I am a retired Army veteran who, after 24 years of service, is also classified as fully disabled due to issues incurred during my service, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I am in my final four semesters of the Marriage and Family Counseling program at Lamar University and plan to graduate Spring, 2024, barring any unforeseen issues. My goal is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and to work with veterans in need when they can’t receive Veterans Administration (VA) services. Having the Marriage and Family certification will allow me to also work with young couples dealing with marital issues while they are struggling to make ends meet. I want to offer low-cost services to help couples find support when they might otherwise choose divorce as the easier, or only, option.
