Therapy is designed to help clients improve their mental health. A licensed therapist, or licensed professional counselor (LPC), works with clients facing a variety of issues in a confidential and empathetic manner. They are adept at using many types of therapeutic approaches and often utilize several in their individualized client treatment plan. If necessary, a therapist may provide a clinical diagnosis.
